EVER entered a train only to be blown away by blaring music from a mobile phone or over heard so much of a conversation it's possible you could join it?
Well, you are not alone.
Over the past year train commuters have recounted their beefs with fellow commuters to Queensland Rail through Facebook, Twitter and customer feedback lines.
In response, QR launched a campaign to educate passengers on train etiquette in September last year - and it seems to have hit the mark.
Among the most common complaints were feet on seats, priority seating, littering, eating, standing aside to allow others to disembark, noisy behaviour and bags on seats and in walkways.
They collated a list of 15 behaviours which irked commuters the most and launched a social media poster campaign which proved to be very successful.
Churchill student Nathan Ripper cringes every time he hears loud music filling the carriages on his trips from Ipswich to Roma St.
The 19-year-old social work student at QUT Kelvin Grove said music, along passengers resting their feet on seats, were habits which irritated him most.
"When people have their feet on the seats, all that hygiene stuff annoys me," he said.
Mr Ripper recognised the social media posters and said on the whole, the majority of commuters are respectful to others.
Rail Back on Track spokesman Robert Dow commended QR on the initiative and the introduction of quiet carriages.
"We think it's a worthwhile campaign. It has certainly highlighted some of the common annoyances the public put up with," he said.
A Queensland Rail spokesman said the City network averages 175,000 customer journeys a day.
The etiquette campaign is about influencing the customers who by accident or on purpose disturb the journey for other travellers.
